Taylor Swift returns to country for Toy Story 5 song
After “TS” billboards and a blue-and-yellow countdown on her website, Taylor Swift confirmed she will contribute a new original song, 'I Knew It, I Knew You,' to the Toy Story 5 soundtrack. Disney’s press release says the track leans on acoustic guitar and marks a return to Swift’s country roots, inspired by Jessie’s journey that began in Toy Story 2.
Swift shared photos on Instagram that reflect the sonic shift: one shows her on a grassy lawn framed by tulips with minimal makeup and honey-colored curls, and another finds her in an empty field wearing utilitarian wide-leg pants and a patchwork jacket embroidered with flowers and birds.
The song was co-written and co-produced with Jack Antonoff and is due Friday, June 5. Fans quickly noticed a resemblance between the floral sundress glimpsed in the announcement images and her 2006 'Tim McGraw' single artwork. It also happens that Toy Story 5’s theatrical release date, June 19, falls on the 20-year anniversary of her debut single.
