For almost a decade Taylor Sheridan has dominated the small screen, and two continuations of Yellowstone are now breaking records. Marshals brings back Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, a former Navy SEAL-turned-rancher-turned U.S. marshal who uses his cowboy and soldier skills to deliver range justice in Montana.

Dutton Ranch largely functions as a sixth season of Yellowstone, following Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton and Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler as they gamble on a new life in South Texas while facing rival forces and the ghosts of their past. Nielsen recorded Marshals’ premiere at 9.52 million viewers, making it the most-watched new scripted series debut on CBS since Yellowstone began in 2018.

Overall viewership has reached 20.7 million, and the series has overtaken Tracker as one of broadcast television’s biggest draws. Critical reception has been mixed: Marshals holds 45% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and 27% from audiences on the Popcornmeter, even as viewers continue to tune in.
