After a few box office bombs, Sydney Sweeney has regained momentum. She is currently filming the military sci‑fi action movie Gundam, and her most recent smash is closing in on an impressive streaming milestone following its December release. Based on Freida McFadden's novel, the 131-minute R-rated thriller The Housemaid stars Sweeney as Millie Calloway, a young woman who takes a live-in nanny job with the Winchester family only to find the situation quickly unravels.

Directed by Paul Feig, the film also features Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar and Michele Morrone; it opened on December 19, 2025 and earned $400 million worldwide, making it Sweeney's highest-grossing movie and surpassing Anyone But You's $220 million. The Housemaid arrived as a digital rental and purchase on February 3, shot to the top of charts on Apple and Amazon, and reached Starz on April 1.
