Sydney Sweeney to Lead Reboot of Horror Classic 'Sleepy Hollow'
Sydney Sweeney will take the lead in Hollow, a contemporary reimagining of Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." The project reframes the story away from the schoolteacher who has anchored versions for two centuries and instead follows the woman who, until now, was only ever the prize he was chasing; Sweeney is attached to play Katrina Van Tassel and will also produce.
Lindsey Anderson Beer sold Hollow as her debut novel to Putnam in a preemptive deal and will write and direct the feature adaptation herself. The project is expected to hit the market as early as this week and is likely to spark a bidding war. Beer, who made her feature directorial debut on Paramount's Pet Sematary: Bloodlines in 2023 and has writing credits that stretch back to Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, says she avoids rewatching earlier screen versions and instead digs into Irving's text and Hudson Valley ghost lore.
