Summer Game Fest Co-host Joins Player.gg to Launch PC Newsletter

Lucy James, who spent more than a decade as a video producer and on-air host at GameSpot, is leaving to start an independent weekly newsletter called lookingfor.game. Hosted on Player.gg, the newsletter will highlight upcoming PC games and deliver demo codes to subscribers; James is also co-hosting Summer Game Fest Live with Geoff Keighley, and Player.gg is partnering with Summer Game Fest as it goes public this week.

Player.gg sits atop FirstLook, a player relationship platform that was acquired by Pragma and launched in 1.0 earlier this year. FirstLook already handles private playtests for publishers and developers; Player.gg aims to make it easier to find games across platforms, recommend titles, organize wishlists and connect players with playtests and game communities.

The platform will allow selected curators to send newsletters and charge subscriptions while Player.gg takes fees for payments and email delivery and focuses its core revenue on b2b services.
