Subnautica 2 hotfix reduces enemy aggression, prompting debate
Unknown Worlds released the latest Subnautica 2 hotfix, which pairs routine bug fixes with a set of changes to enemy behavior. Among the adjustments: Hammerheads no longer attack unpiloted Tadpoles but can still investigate them; Marrowbreaches deal more damage but attack less frequently; and Nibblers received several tweaks, including reduced perception range, slower movement, longer circling before attacking, greater sensitivity to the Multitool, and increased damage.
One argument in the piece suggests the Hammerhead change makes sense, likening it to real sharks that investigate rather than immediately bite things that are not edible. Letting Hammerheads check out an unmoving Tadpole instead of removing their interest entirely preserves that investigatory behavior without making them oblivious.
The Nibbler changes prompted more skepticism.
