Subnautica 2 Devs Promise It’s About To Get Way Scarier
Since launching into Early Access on May 14, Subnautica 2 has seen a steady stream of hotfixes, most recently dialing down the aggression of some of the game's more frustrating fish. Today developer Unknown Worlds offered the first look at larger upcoming updates, including a whole new region beneath the Collector Leviathan’s realm.
The preview arrives after a period of controversy in which some team members answered player feedback bluntly and later apologised, leaving parts of the community feeling their input had been rebuffed. Design lead Anthony Gallegos began the update video by stressing the value of player feedback.
Beyond routine performance work and bug fixes, the Biomod System will let players unlock multiple passive slots and find more mods earlier, and wrecks have been flagged for unspecified "improvements." The team says "blight encounters" will be made visually clearer and fish aggression will be rebalanced to make those moments less easy to miss and less irritating.
