Grand Theft Auto 6's November 2026 launch has left many publishers avoiding that part of the calendar, with a lot of releases pushed into September. Furyu Games, however, posted on X that its roguelike Crymelight will launch on November 5, two weeks before GTA 6, quipping, "Maybe we’re just not afraid enough."

The studio pointed out it has precedent for this kind of timing: last year the Furyu-published Kemono Teatime launched on September 4, the same day as Hollow Knight: Silksong.

That positioning reads as a marketing manoeuvre; the post was a response to a Kotaku piece arguing publishers are terrified of GTA 6. Devolver Digital has pursued a similar tack, moving a release to land on the exact same day as GTA 6.

For smaller publishers, releasing near such a major launch can be a gamble, but it might also bring a bit of reflected attention rather than simply being crowded out.
