Stranger Than Heaven adds Tupac to cast, launches January 2027
Stranger Than Heaven is an upcoming action-adventure from Sega and RGG Studio that ties into the Yakuza series. A trailer shown at Summer Game Fest revealed a January 2027 release and ended with a shot of rapper Tupac in the game. Tupac Shakur died in 1996 at age 25 and is widely regarded as one of the most influential musicians; his likeness has been used posthumously before, including a 2012 Coachella performance that featured a hologram with Snoop Dogg and Dr.
Dre. RGG Studio and Sega say Tupac's inclusion comes with permission and 'ongoing supervision' from his estate, Amaru Entertainment, and was handled 'with the utmost respect for his legacy,' created without the use of AI and with character design based on archival footage and photographs.
Tupac will be the second deceased person to appear in Stranger Than Heaven, with iconic Japanese actor Bunta Sugawara also in the cast.
