Maggie Sellers Reum, host of the podcast Hot Smart Rich, received a seven-figure investment from Steven Bartlett and says he also helped her confront “very dark thoughts” of self-doubt by reminding her that her work helps women feel seen and heard. FlightStory, Bartlett’s media company, has been applying The Diary of a CEO playbook to expand Sellers Reum’s visibility and guest network.

She credits Bartlett’s encouragement with giving her the confidence to interrupt model and actor Molly Sims at an event and secure her for the show. Sellers Reum recalls the first contact as a DM she saw while in SoHo, and says the deal took about four months, during which Bartlett stayed in regular contact.

“He would be speaking onstage in Singapore, and it would be three in the morning, and he would just pop on the Zoom for five minutes to make sure that I knew that he was involved in this and wanted it to happen,” she said. One negotiation point was ownership and creative control.
