Stellar Blade: Blood Rain Trailer Prompts GenAI Concerns
Shift Up’s sequel to 2024’s Stellar Blade, Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, was announced during the Summer Game Fest last night. It’s one of the most popular reveals of the non-E3 season so far, but some online users are accusing the publisher of using AI in parts of the debut footage.
Several users on X noted that the Chinese characters in the trailer are “very visibly AI slop” and claimed some symbols aren’t even real. Others have highlighted oddities in background buildings that look nonsensical in shared screenshots. Many also pointed to the official key art shared on Shift Up CEO Hyung-tae Kim’s social accounts, arguing it contains genAI elements; the windows on the buildings in the background, for example, “look a bit off” to some observers.
Skepticism is amplified by Kim’s public embrace of genAI earlier this year.
