Stellar Blade: Blood Rain continues the series with new protagonist

Shift Up revealed Stellar Blade: Blood Rain during the Summer Game Fest live show. The studio says the game will continue the story beyond the first title and introduces a new protagonist, Evie; SGF host Geoff Keighley noted it takes place in "the same universe" as the original but looks very different.

The trailer opens in a dense, sophisticated cyberpunk city—a stark contrast to the ramshackle towns and ruins of the first game. Evie wears gear from the CDDP faction seen previously, providing one clear link to the original, and the soundtrack is described in the trailer's first moments as "pure vibes." Combat also shifts tone: where Eve used a sword, Evie fights with gauntlets and a lot of kicks, supplemented by a blade for special attacks and a suite of dodge and parry counters.

The sequence in the trailer makes combat feel like a direct successor to what came before.
