Steam's second most-played game right now is reportedly a bot-filled marketplace that can get you banned
Idle games frequently top Steam's charts—Bongo Cat has been near the top for a year and Banana holds the tenth-highest all-time concurrent peak. Task Bar Hero launched at the end of May and quickly drew players, reaching roughly 450,000 concurrent users overnight and a new all-time peak of 526,596, placing it below Counter-Strike 2 but above Dota 2, PUBG, and Path of Exile 2.
The title is a taskbar idle RPG where items earned passively can be sold on the Steam marketplace. Most listings appear low-value, but several weapons and armour are listed for between £50 and £150, and a legendary bow is currently offered for £1,183.16. Those high prices have prompted suspicion that the marketplace is being driven by bot farms inflating item values, a pattern reminiscent of the Banana controversy of 2024.
Reviews sit at 48% positive, with many players calling out alleged bot farming, game-breaking bugs and items disappearing.
