The second Steam Next Fest of 2026 runs until June 22 and features 8,682 demos, roughly double the size of the entire PS2 game library.

Among those demos, 1,694 list an AI Content disclosure on their store page, a trend observers say is making storefronts harder to navigate as low-effort AI material floods listings.

Some platforms have tried to remove shovelware — Sony even deleted an entire publisher that had been the fourth-biggest on PS4 and PS5 — but the issue persists. Reactions to examples like Crazy Taxi: World Tour using AI in development and big-name entries such as Capcom's Onimusha: Way of the Sword appearing in the event highlight concerns that discoveries of smaller indie titles will become more difficult.

On a lighter note, one ResetEra reply celebrated that a whimsically titled demo “does not use AI.” Separately, an early upload of Steam Machine Geekbench results has prompted speculation that Valve's box could arrive next week.
