Valve is struggling to meet demand for its Steam Controller. The trackpad-equipped gamepad quickly sold out when it released in early May, and ever since there's been a reservation system similar to the one once used for Steam Deck. Valve says initial demand exceeded expectations and has updated the reservation page to manage delivery timing.

"When we launched Steam Controller last month, we quickly saw that initial demand exceeded our expectations," Valve writes. "We have no plans to stop making Steam Controller. But as we look at the current demand compared to how many we know we can make by the end of the year, we want to manage expectations as much as we can with regards to when folks can expect to receive their order." If you aren't already in the queue you probably won't get a Steam Controller until 2027: one colleague in the United States who joined the queue saw an "estimated order availability" of 2027, and the same was true for the author in Australia.
