I'm a sucker for a good tactics game, and Star Wars Zero Company has me buzzing. Despite having drifted away from the franchise after The Rise of Skywalker, the XCOM-like approach feels like a perfect fit: a Padawan on the squad balanced by an R‑series droid, moments that promise bleak set pieces like Darth Vader at the end of Rogue One, and even a former boxer called Kabb Uppercut to mix up the tone.

What draws me in is how the tactics format shifts focus away from Jedi versus Sith and into a more grounded ensemble dynamic. The genre's emphasis on positioning and complementary abilities makes those team combinations compelling, and I can already imagine an Astromech racking up an impressive body count in ways the mainline games rarely explore.

Thinking about Zero Company also got me pondering Metal Gear Acid. The PSP duology translated stealth into a tactical RPG with deckbuilding in a way that still stands out: tension matters, stealth matters, and every card and move carries weight.
