After a decade in hyper-sleep, Fox McCloud and the Star Fox squadron return later this month in a reimagining of Star Fox 64 that also feels like the setup for something bigger. The series has long served as a technical showcase for Nintendo hardware, and this entry highlights Switch 2 features such as Joy‑Con 2 mouse controls and the console’s camera.

Graphically, the game is gorgeous. The squadron appears in high-definition cutscenes that deepen characterization, and new between-mission interactions—especially the rivalry between Fox and Falco—land effectively in hands-on sessions. Gameplay largely follows familiar routes: the Corneria opener and the Meteo asteroid field felt like their predecessors but with denser environments, sharper effects and visible Arwing damage.

Branching paths and unlockables remain, and Pilot and Gunner Mode—where one player flies while the other aims using mouse controls—proved surprisingly intense, putting real pressure on both players.
