Star Fox makes its visually overhauled debut on Switch 2 on June 25. Early reviews find the core experience established in the N64 game is as good as ever, even if all of the new bells and whistles don’t quite add up to a completely new-feeling experience; the remake sits at an 81 on Metacritic but reactions vary.

Fox McCloud, Falco, Peppy, and Slippy have received Unreal Engine–like hyper-realistic make-overs, and the game adds new story cutscenes, multiplayer modes, and features such as camera and GameChat karaoke. Some critics praised the impressive visuals and a reorchestrated soundtrack, while others flagged little annoyances in voice acting and cut-scenes and questioned changes to shooting and certain new features, including local co-op that splits piloting and aiming.
