A new featurette for Spider-Man: Brand New Day reveals the Marvel movie is the first film shot for ScreenX, with footage captured on set for the panoramic format. ScreenX extends beyond the main screen onto theatre walls, creating a 270° panoramic experience. Director Destin Daniel Cretton says ScreenX came to set and, for the first time, shot specific scenes for the unique movie experience—similar to how movies are shot in IMAX.

"CJ 4DPlex and their team came to the set to actually shoot the footage that you will experience on screen in the wings of the chosen scenes of our film," Cretton says. "This is a first. It’s something truly unique that nobody has experienced before – you’re going to love it." There will not be IMAX screenings for Brand New Day.

Tom Holland is set to star in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which premieres two weeks before Brand New Day and is being shown in IMAX for an exclusive four-week run. So you'll still be able to see Holland in IMAX... just not in a red spandex suit.
