Spider-Man: Brand New Day hints Sadie Sink may be MCU's Jean Grey
Spider-Man: Brand New Day still hasn’t named Sadie Sink’s character, but the new trailer strengthens the case that she could be Marvel’s Jean Grey. With a confirmed X-Men reboot on the horizon, a fresh team of mutants would fit into the studio’s next phase. Jean Grey first appeared in 1963 as a founding member of the X-Men in X‑Men #1, originally called Marvel Girl and later more commonly known as Phoenix.
When she turns villainous she has been known as Dark Phoenix and briefly as the Black Queen, roles that remain possibilities for Sink’s character. The film appears to position this version of Jean as an immediate and major threat, apparently taking over minds and terrorizing New York.
That would be a departure from past portrayals, where her descent into villainy typically unfolds as a later turning point.
