Spain to wait for 'best time' to return Lamine Yamal, Karanka says
Spain say they will be patient over Lamine Yamal’s recovery, with RFEF technical director Aitor Karanka insisting the national side will not rush the Barcelona winger back into action. With just five days until La Roja’s World Cup opener against Cape Verde on 15 June, concerns had grown after the teenager missed time with a hamstring injury in his left leg suffered in late‑April against Celta.
Karanka, speaking from the team base at the Baylor School, rejected any suggestion of friction between the federation and Barcelona and stressed constant communication over the rehabilitation. “It will be seen when is the best time for him to return,” he said, adding that his relationship with Bojan and Deco is “fantastic” and that there has been transparency with Barca medical services.
There are no fixed dates for Yamal’s comeback.
