Sony marked a decade of its flagship over-ear line with the 1000X The Collexion, a special-edition take on the WH-1000XM6 priced at $650. It keeps a similar silhouette to the XM6 but swaps matte plastic for sleeker materials and higher-quality internal components.

Under the hood, the Collexion uses a unidirectional carbon driver intended to reduce distortion, and a V3-powered processor running DSEE Ultimate. The sound leans more lively than the XM6, with deeper, tighter bass and less sharp highs, and the headphones add two spatial-audio modes while retaining LDAC, LC3, 3.5mm wired listening, noise cancellation and ambient modes.

Sony still uses the QN3 noise-reduction processor, and the company notes the XM6 offers stronger noise-canceling performance. Design changes include polished and brushed metal accents, slimmer earcups, a wider headband and thicker ear pads for improved comfort.
