Sonic Team boss names Sonic Adventure 2 his most memorable game
Takahashi Iizuka, lead producer at Sonic Team, says the title that stands out most from his long career with the franchise is Sonic Adventure 2 from 2001. He has been involved with many Sonic games over the last three decades, but calls Sonic Adventure 2 particularly memorable.
After completing the previous game, he moved a development team to San Francisco to work on the follow-up. While the earlier project involved more than 100 people, development on Sonic Adventure 2 began with just 11. Iizuka recalls that being a small team in a new location let them work together freely and enjoy the process while supporting each other professionally and personally.
He believes that supportive working conditions helped the game's quality, noting that people do better work when they are supported. Sonic Adventure 2 has since become a fan favourite and inspired several indie tributes, and Iizuka was "really delighted" to see its story used for the third Sonic movie.
