Sonic Pico Park Turns Cooperative Chaos Into a Laugh
I’m a Sonic the Hedgehog sicko who’s always loved rolling around at the speed of sound, but getting friends to play has long been a challenge. Sonic Pico Park, a Sonic-themed take on the cooperative platformer Pico Park, might be the solution: multiple players must coordinate to get through obstacle courses by timing jumps, stacking on one another, or carrying teammates if only one can fly.
Pico Park feels like four people in one body, with your communication acting as the brain signals that try to keep everything in sync. At Summer Game Fest I played with three strangers as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy. Some characters have distinct movement—Knuckles’ glide and Tails’ flight—but most share uniform tools like a spin dash and a standard jump.
Levels include the series’ loop-de-loops, yet every stage is a puzzle you must solve together, so steady, methodical execution matters more than sprinting through.
