Solarpunk warns players not to expect a huge survival game at launch
With over 1.2 million wishlists on Steam and a June 8 release looming, Solarpunk’s developer Cyberwave has urged players to check their expectations. The team warned that if you were picturing a massive, sprawling survival experience like Windrose or Subnautica 2, this is likely not that game.
Solarpunk was built mostly by a two-person team and is not a giant studio production. Cyberwave describes it as a calm, cozy, focused survival craft sandbox: after around 20 hours most of the main content is explored and the game then shifts toward your home base, farm, decoration, and personal goals.
There is no PvP, the world consists of a limited set of handcrafted islands and two biomes, and Solarpunk has no story campaign or narrative quest progression. "We do not want anyone to buy Solarpunk for the wrong reasons," the developer wrote, encouraging players to pick it up if they want a peaceful survival craft game where you build a cozy home base, farm, decorate, explore handcrafted islands, and spend relaxed time alone or with friends.
