Sofía Vergara Gives Golden Buzzer to Lara D's 'Oscar Winning Tears' Audition

It only takes a few minutes on America's Got Talent to change a life, and that is exactly what happened when Lara D. stepped onto the Season 21 audition stage. After being twice denied the Golden Buzzer earlier in the night, Sofía Vergara moved quickly this time, pressing the button for the Aussie singer and sending golden confetti down to celebrate the moment.

Lara chose "Oscar Winning Tears," a song by British singer-songwriter Raye from the 2023 album My 21st Century Blues. The track, inspired by a frightening personal experience in which Raye says a man she trusted spiked her drink and feigned victimhood, examines performance and false grief.

Hailing from Sydney, Lara works in her family's real estate business and admitted she was not living her dream at home before coming to the AGT stage. She posted about the audition on Instagram, writing she had been holding the news in and expressing excitement about appearing on the show.
