Six biggest surprises at Summer Game Fest 2026
Summer Game Fest 2026 proved unusually announcement-heavy, with something for every kind of player. The show confirmed that Studio MDHR is working on two new Cuphead games and delivered surprise reveals ranging from Resident Evil Veronica to Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.
Capcom confirmed a remake of Resident Evil Veronica, slated for 2027, following a run of recent releases including Pragmata, Resident Evil Requiem and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. Horror fans also got a first look at Alien Isolation 2, which shifts from Sevastopol to a colony on a distant planet’s surface — opening up play spaces and leaning into an Aliens‑style push‑and‑pull while leaving many watching the Xenomorph’s AI closely.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation closed the show and will launch on all platforms simultaneously in spring 2027; the reveal included gameplay of transitions from the flying ship The Highguard to the open world below and footage of Vincent Valentine (voiced by Matt Mercer).
