Six best new shows and movies streaming this week (June 26-28)

The weekend brings a packed streaming lineup, and to help narrow the choices here are six standout shows and films across Netflix, HBO Max, Prime Video, Hulu, Disney Plus and more. Netflix's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender returns for a second season, with Aang (Gordon Cormier) and company traveling deeper into the Earth Kingdom to confront Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim).

Early reaction to season two has been overwhelmingly positive, a third season is on the way, and the original Nickelodeon cartoon makes for a good double feature once you finish. The Bear arrives on Hulu for its fifth and final season, picking up the morning after the season four finale when Sydney, Richie and Sugar learn that Carmy has quit and left them the restaurant.

With a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, this last chapter is the characters’ final shot at the Michelin star; Jamie Lee Curtis confirmed the series will end here, and the Jon Bernthal one-shot Gary serves as a standalone companion.
