During yesterday's PlayStation State of Play showcase — the first big event to come out of this year's Summer Game Fest — we got a new glimpse at Silent Hill: Townfall and the game's precise release date of September 24, 2026.

The developer is leaning into stealth. Sony's post describes evasion, hiding and careful movement as sometimes necessary rather than optional: with some enemies combat remains important, while with others evasion is the only option. The CRTV and peek mechanic will help players assess situations, and being seen can trigger terrifying chases and dire consequences.

Townfall also shifts to a first-person point of view while keeping many familiar Silent Hill features. The writer recalls Silent Hill f's divisive action-heavy combat and expects fans will have strong opinions about Townfall's focus when it arrives; they also expressed hope the blend of old and new will work.

Townfall, Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Control Resonant all launch a day apart in September.
