After 17 years and two spin-offs about the talking cat, the Shrek franchise returns with Shrek 5, reuniting Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz as Shrek, Donkey and Fiona. This installment introduces the couple's triplets as teenagers, played by Marcello Hernández, Skyler Gisondo and Zendaya.

The new trailer follows the family to "the magical city of Further Further Away," where they pass a haggard snowman who asks, "Wanna date a snowman?" Fiona urges Shrek to speed up their carriage. The group later ends up in jail (without Shrek's daughter Felicia, it appears), and Donkey annoys Shrek by singing R&B hits of yesteryear.

Fans first reacted strongly to an earlier teaser in February 2025 over the updated animation style, and while some compared the situation to the Sonic redesign controversy, DreamWorks has made clear it will not redo the look.
