Shrek 5 trailer sets 2027 release, keeps jabs at Disney

Smash Mouth’s "All Star" plays over a new teaser for Shrek 5, which sets a 2027 release date and includes another playful dig at Disney. The film, officially confirmed in 2024 after years of rumors, returns to viewership two years later with fresh footage.

Shrek, Fiona and Donkey are back and once again voiced by the original cast, and the family has clearly grown. Joining them are daughter Felicia (Zendaya) and sons Fergus (Marcello Hernandez) and Farkle (Skyler Gisondo).

Teaser clips hint at familiar franchise beats—a jailbreak sequence, the return of Gingy (Conrad Vernon), and a Godzilla-esque creature rampaging through a city block—while plot specifics remain unrevealed. Some moments appear to echo Shrek 2, though whether those are intentional callbacks is unclear.

One brief shot shows a droopy animated snowman tipping his hat and croaking "Wanna date a snowman?" Shrek 5 is slated to hit theaters sometime in the summer of 2027.
