Series S Memory Issues Delay Xbox Port; Calls to Change Parity Rule
Moon Studios’ top-down action RPG No Rest for the Wicked is headed to PlayStation 5 after an extended early access run on PC, but Xbox players will have to wait while the studio optimizes the game to run on the smaller Xbox Series S. The PlayStation reveal came during Sony’s recent State of Play, and Moon’s CEO addressed questions about the missing Xbox version on June 2.
Thomas Mahler said bluntly, “Series S is making that rough,” and later added, “There’s no exclusivity deal.” He explained the core problem is Series S’s limited memory — on Series S the team only has eight gigs and the game constantly streams large amounts of data — so hitting that spec and the additional optimizations for Switch 2 and Series S will take more time.
Microsoft requires games that ship on Xbox Series X to also be playable on Series S and enforces parity between the consoles.
