Sequel Talks Underway for The Furious

Conversations about a sequel to The Furious are already underway, producer Bill Kong of Edko Films has confirmed.

Led by Xie Miao and Joe Taslim and directed by action choreographer-turned-filmmaker Tanigaki Kenji, The Furious debuted at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival and holds a 100% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The plot follows a seemingly ordinary tradesman who reveals himself to be an unstoppable weapon of vengeance after his daughter is kidnapped by a criminal network.

Kong said, “I can promise you one thing, that if there’s going to be a sequel, it will be a better film than the first one.” (via Henderson Movies) He did use the word "if" when referring to a possible The Furious 2.

The Furious is set to hit theaters on June 12, 2026; whether a follow-up appears will likely depend on how the film performs commercially as well as critically.
