September 2026 has too many games trying to escape GTA 6
What publisher would go up against Grand Theft Auto 6 this November has been the year's biggest mystery. After the PlayStation State of Play, the answer looks clear: no one. November remains open as many major holiday releases instead aim for September, turning the month into a crowded fall release window.
Several big titles now cluster in September. Blood of the Dawnwalker is set for Sept. 3, Phantom Blade Zero had Sept. 9 before being delayed to October, and Sony has claimed Sept. 15 for Marvel’s Wolverine. State of Play revealed Control Resonant for Sept. 24, the same day as Silent Hill Townfall, with Onimusha: Way of the Sword following on Sept.
25. Ace Combat 8 narrowly avoided the pile-up with an Oct. 2 date, though Deluxe Edition holders get access on Sept. 28. Rayman Legends Retold will release on Oct. 1 — which, the story quipped, is close enough to September. Dune: Awakening arrives on PS5 with new content on Sept.
