Sephiroth’s English voice will change in Final Fantasy VII Revelation
Sephiroth will sound different in Final Fantasy VII Revelation after the game replaced the English voice actor for the character. Tyler Hoechlin, who voiced the One-Winged Angel in Remake and Rebirth, was unavailable during production of the third game, director Naoki Hamaguchi said.
When Revelation debuted at Summer Game Fest, some viewers immediately noticed the English voice sounded off. Hamaguchi later told streamer Maximilian Dood that Hoechlin could not return due to apparent scheduling conflicts. Travis Willingham will take over the role for the English version.
Willingham currently voices Thor and Doctor Doom in Marvel Rivals, voiced Aced in Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts series, and has dubbed anime roles including Roy Mustang in Full Metal Alchemist and Portgas D. Ace in One Piece. The late-stage casting change left some fans disappointed and confused, with many pointing out Hoechlin has continued appearing at conventions to promote his role.
