As games keep growing in size, console storage often lags behind. Seagate’s officially licensed PlayStation Game Drive — the 2TB model — is on sale at Amazon for $120, down from $140, giving players roughly three times more space. The drive is a traditional external hard drive that connects over USB 3.2 Gen 1, not an internal NVMe SSD, so PS5 games cannot be played directly from it.

Instead it stores PS5 titles and lets you transfer them back to internal storage when you want to play, which is much faster than redownloading an 80GB game. PS4 games run directly from the drive because they don’t have the same speed requirements, so if your library is mostly PS4 you get full, direct-play storage.

For PS5 owners it functions as a holding vault that simplifies swapping games in and out. Setup is plug-and-play and takes under two minutes: connect the included USB cable and the console handles the rest thanks to shared firmware.
