Scarlett Johansson Thriller Paper Tiger Sets November Release
Neon has set release dates for James Gray's Paper Tiger, which stars Scarlett Johansson. The film will open in select theaters on Nov. 13, followed by a nationwide rollout on Nov. 20, a window that aligns with movies seeking awards attention and reflects Neon's faith in Gray's work.
Paper Tiger is Gray's first film since 2022's Armageddon Time and features Johansson alongside Miles Teller and Adam Driver. Set in 1986, it follows two brothers, Irwin (Teller) and Gary Pearl (Driver), with the latter becoming involved with the Russian mob while attempting a get-rich-quick scheme to clean up the Gowanus Canal; his former cop brother, Gary, is the only one who can get him out of trouble.
Johansson plays Teller's wife, a character said to have her own problems. The film premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, reportedly receiving a seven-minute standing ovation and mostly positive reviews. It holds an 84% "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
