Scarlett Johansson Debuts in First-Look Photos of Mike Flanagan's '70s Reboot

Scarlett Johansson appears in a new set of photos from Mike Flanagan’s remake of The Exorcist, with TV Insider sharing images that also show Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sasha Calle, Diane Lane and Jacobi Jupe. Plot details remain largely under wraps, and the pictures—mostly of the cast on city streets—reveal little of the film’s darker moments.

Johansson has comparatively few horror credits, her most notable entries being Eight-Legged Freaks and the 2013 A24 film Under the Skin, though she recently boosted her box-office totals by starring in Jurassic World Rebirth. Flanagan’s body of work is closely tied to horror, and even his film The Life of Chuck drew inspiration from a Stephen King story.

The Exorcist franchise has been uneven since the original, with mixed responses to sequels and a troubled prequel that was released in two different cuts. A 2016 TV follow-up briefly positioned itself as a direct sequel to the 1973 film before Fox canceled the series after its second season.
