Sandro hails £38m Ederson as a bargain and Casemiro replacement
Manchester United are closing in on a summer move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, a deal put at £38m that former Tottenham and Brazil international Sandro called "a bargain" in today’s inflated market.
The transfer is widely seen as succession planning for Casemiro. Sandro said Ederson has the physical tools and mentality to step into that role, adding that to replace a five-time Champions League winner a player must perform at the very highest level.
United have sought a profile that combines defensive screening with the ability to progress the ball, and Ederson’s Serie A performances suggest he offers that blend. The move would include an initial fee of £34m to secure his signature from the Italian side.
Sandro acknowledged the jump to the Premier League is a significant challenge but said Ederson has the condition to adapt and, with time from the manager, could make the transition and enjoy the competition.
