Sand: Raiders of Sophie is Sea of Thieves on land — harder solo

Sand: Raiders of Sophie has entered early access after a number of last-minute delays. The first-person base-building extraction shooter centers on walking bases called tramplers and often feels like Sea of Thieves on land, though it can be especially demanding for solo players.

Before each mission you prep both yourself and your trampler: pick a pistol, shotgun or rifle, fill your pockets with ammo, and bring a crate of heavy guns for the vehicle such as 40mm and 80mm cannons. Once deployed you mount the exterior weapons, load ammo, fire up the huge engine and haul yourself to the steering emplacement to yank giant levers as the behemoth lurches and stomps across the dunes.

Getting around a trampler takes time—climbing ladders and racing between compartments to man turrets, reload, repair damage and keep the mech moving.
