Ryan Gosling's Starfighter Should Follow The Mandalorian's Example
Ryan Gosling is set to star in Star Wars: Starfighter, which is slated for release in 2027. The recent film The Mandalorian & Grogu took a surprising turn by becoming the first Star Wars movie not to include any characters from the original trilogy, and that choice has quietly reshaped expectations for the franchise's return to theaters.
Every Star Wars feature since 1977 had previously included at least one familiar face: the prequels leaned on Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Emperor Palpatine, the sequels featured figures such as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Lando Calrissian, and Rogue One included Mon Mothma and Princess Leia.
The Mandalorian & Grogu only came close by mentioning Jabba the Hutt, and the film’s lack of cameos was especially notable given that The Mandalorian had brought back Luke Skywalker and Dave Filoni is known for surprise appearances.
