Russos Share Doctor Doom Flag Symbol Ahead of Avengers: Doomsday
Avengers: Doomsday, the first Avengers movie since Endgame in 2019, will hit theaters later this year and stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns not as Iron Man but as the villainous Doctor Doom. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo posted an image to Instagram showing a symbol pulled from the flag of Latveria.
The mark somewhat resembles Doctor Doom’s mask; the most prominent version of the flag places the symbol inside a circle at the intersection of two black lines edged with red on a green field. The post could precede a proper trailer. So far Marvel has released only small teasers highlighting the returns of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Captain America (Chris Evans), though an official trailer was shown to attendees at CinemaCon in April; Marvel may reveal it at SXSW London (June 1–6, 2026) or run it before screenings of Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31, 2026.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for December 18, 2026, and will go head to head with Dune: Part Three.
