Russo brothers say Avengers: Doomsday 'starting over from scratch'
Directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo say Avengers: Doomsday will feel entirely different. Speaking to a crowd at SXSW, Joe described “that serial shifting and changing and surprising you and then reinventing itself,” and added, “that’s exciting, and I think you’re going to see some shifting and changing [with Doomsday].” He went on to say, “Look, we were with Rob [Downey Jr.] earlier today.
We were both talking about this concept that we are back to phase zero. This is starting over from scratch. We want to make sure everybody feels like this isn’t leaning on anything from the past.” The film will be the fifth Avengers movie and the 39th Marvel movie overall, despite a cast that includes the Thunderbolts, the rest of the Fantastic Four, Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Anthony Mackie's Captain America, Danny Ramirez's Falcon, Letitia Wright's Shuri, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler.
