Russell Crowe’s Beast Tops Streaming Charts

Beast, Russell Crowe’s martial arts action movie, has taken the top spot on Rakuten TV. Best-known for his Academy Award-winning role as Maximus in Gladiator back in 2000, Crowe steps into the modern colosseum, aka The Octagon, for a Rocky-esque story set in the world of MMA.

The sexagenarian Man of Steel star plays an on-screen MMA coach and co-wrote the film. Directed by Tyler Atkins and written by Russell Crowe and David Frigerio, Beast debuted in theaters in April before hitting streaming. It follows a once-feared MMA champion who, after years away from the ring, is pulled back in when his younger brother is put in danger; reuniting with the trainer who made him a legend, he commits to a final showdown against the reigning champion.

The cast includes Daniel MacPherson, Luke Hemsworth, Mojean Aria, Kelly Gale, George Burgess, Saphira Moran, Bren Foster and Crowe.
