RuneScape: Dragonwilds, a survival-crafting spinoff of the long-running MMORPG, is coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium later this year — the first RuneScape game to arrive on consoles. Jagex revealed the news during Sony’s State of Play. The game launched in April 2026 on Steam in Early Access, where it has been generally well received (it’s currently at 81% user approval) and has sold over 1 million copies.

It’s an open-world crafting title set in the Ashenfall region where up to four players can cooperate to slay the Dragon Queen. Dragonwilds’ twist is that players use magic — summoning a spectral ax to chop trees or using water incantations to round up fish — while raising skills familiar to the main series and fighting creatures such as Zogres and Black Knights.

RuneScape began as a free-to-play PC MMO in 2001 and has remained active: players have created over 300 million accounts.
