Ruben Amorim has moved to the top of AC Milan's managerial shortlist after a fresh round of talks with the former Manchester United boss. The Portuguese coach has emerged as the frontrunner to lead the Rossoneri's new era, leapfrogging other candidates in a rapidly evolving search for a tactical overhaul at San Siro.

Milan have put a provisional two-year contract on the table, with an option for a third season, signalling Gerry Cardinale's intent to provide stability to a project that faltered during the previous campaign. The collapse of a potential management role for Ralf Rangnick has allowed the hierarchy to pivot more freely toward Amorim, who is now the leading candidate to take the reins.

Oliver Glasner has slid down the shortlist after being heavily championed by Rangnick, while the board is prioritising a tactical identity built around a high defensive line, aggressive transition play and immediate ball recovery.
