Manchester United legend Roy Keane has threatened to leave the country permanently if England win the World Cup this summer. He admitted his anxiety spikes whenever the Three Lions progress deep into major tournaments and said he would choose emigration over witnessing the celebration.

Keane made the remark to Sky Bet and is scheduled to be a pundit in north America, which he said would give him a front-row seat to the scenario he wants to avoid. Despite working for a major British broadcaster, he was unapologetic about his lack of support for the tournament favourites.

“I don’t want England winning it! But obviously, when we’re working over there, and you’re ITV, you want them to do well. And you know they’re going through the knockout games, and when they’re getting through, there’s a bit of excitement,” he said. He added that his anxiety increases as the competition approaches its conclusion on July 19.
