Ron Howard Teases The Grinch 2 and Jim Carrey Return
A live-action sequel to the 2000 How the Grinch Stole Christmas has been announced, with Jim Carrey in talks to reprise his iconic role. Director Ron Howard and producer Brian Grazer are also returning to guide the project. At a UCLA Entertainment Symposium panel the pair offered a brief tease of The Grinch 2 while plot details remain tightly under wraps.
Howard said the follow-up is "something we've thought about for a long time, and you know what, it’s an idea that got all five or six of the brain trust excited. So, it's worth a try." Carrey's original turn required extensive makeup and prosthetics; he tried to quit two weeks into filming and offered to return his $20 million salary (with interest).
Grazer recalled, "I had met somebody that teaches State Department people how to survive torture.
