Rockstar asking $80 to preorder GTA 6 without a gameplay trailer
When Rockstar opened GTA 6 preorders this week, many expected a gameplay trailer to arrive alongside them. Instead, preorders are live and there has been no gameplay footage released. Preorder pricing starts at $80, with an Ultimate Edition priced at $100 that appears to lock some content behind the more expensive option.
The two trailers released so far have been cinematic—one a 90-second reveal and the other a roughly three-minute spotlight on protagonists Jason and Lucia—and the recent batch of 63 images mainly featured Ultimate Edition artwork and photo-mode style shots. Aside from years-old leaked clips, no in-engine gameplay has been shown.
While fans can reasonably guess how a GTA title will play, many feel it’s presumptuous to ask for a minimum of $80 without demonstrating the actual game. The lack of a PC launch date adds uncertainty; some potential buyers, including those without a current-generation console, say they will not preorder.
