Robert Downey Jr: Avengers: Doomsday aims to earn fans' trust
Robert Downey Jr. said during a surprise appearance at SXSW London that the filmmakers cannot top Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and "we can't beat it – we can't stand on the shoulders of these giants of Infinity War and Endgame." He added that the team is "zeroing out the board" and will "try to earn your trust and respect all over again," and that with directors Joe and Anthony Russo they have a pretty good shot.
Downey Jr. was announced as Doctor Doom at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, alongside the Russos' return to direct both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Production remains ongoing, with a mix of MCU mainstays, legacy Marvel actors and other heroes and villains taking part in what appears to be the biggest Marvel Studios crossover event to date.
A behind-closed-doors trailer was shown at CinemaCon, while a recent Doomsday pop-up event drew criticism after revealing a coffee-themed store with Doctor Doom hot drinks.
